I like the idea of this…

My friend Jenn recommended Live Journal and so here I finally am. I have tried something like this on and off in the past, keeping a journal or notebook, mostly for the purpose of spurring my writing (one completed screenplay, doomed to oblivion because it was a “selfish” endeavor, thus not useful or entertaining for others outside of psychoanalysis or blackmail).

But there are other reasons for doing this. One is that it gives me yet another distraction from projects I’m procrastinating. Another is to actually build better habits. If I were to attempt to post something every day, can I keep it up? Perhaps this would lead to better habits in finishing my columns for Movie Poop Shoot.

Most of my thoughts of jotting down ideas for public consumption fall into two camps. First is the “cool stuff” category, where I read, watch or listen to something really, really, really, really cool that I want to share with others. The second category has to do with my emotions, which makes it a double edge sword. I’d love to just let it all go and be open and vulnerable, but I’m also nervous about sharing. See, that’s already more than you needed to know right there.

So here’s to hoping I can come up with a new “Cool Thing of the Day” every day.

G’night…
D.
